Micah's First Trip to Disney World

This is the BEST story ever . . .

Chad called me on Thursday afternoon (November 20th), and said he had a funny story for me. He then asked me if Micah and I wanted to go on a free trip to Disney World . . . THE NEXT DAY. Apparently, the MHS Band was going on their trip to Disney and ended up with a couple of free trips - literally. We had free bus transportation to Orlando (yes, we took Micah on a 25 hour bus ride), a free hotel room, free park-hopper passes to the parks, and $50 Disney dining gift cards for each day of the trip. Oh, and they gave us free passes to the hotel's breakfast buffet for each day we were there. They also gave us free dinner at Planet Hollywood and a free breakfast at The Rainforest Cafe. Sooooo, I started packing and doing laundry and by 11:30 the next morning, we were all on a bus leaving for Orlando.

Micah was wonderful on the bus. He only got really upset during the last hour or so of the ride there. On the way back, he was even more calm, but pooped on me and puked ALL OVER Chad. Needless to say, we smelled awesome when we got home.

We spent about a day and a half at Epcot, and then spaced the remaining day and a half between Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, and Magic Kingdom. Chad and I really love Epcot best, and they seemed to have lots of Micah-friendly rides.
Micah rode the Finding Nemo and Imagination rides at Epcot, and the Haunted Mansion, Small World, and Pirates of the Caribbean rides at Magic Kingdom. We also spent TONS of time walking through the World Showcase at Epcot, walked through the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids attraction at Hollywood Studios, and did a walk-through safari at Animal Kingdom. All in all, I thought there was a good amount of stuff to do with our little one.

Halloween!

Micah had his first Halloween this week.
He had a delightful time!

First we went to the mall to trick-or-treat.
Micah went as a monkey and Daddy was his banana.
Then we came home and gave Micah
chocolate pudding as a Halloween treat!

After Micah had his treat,
Daddy put the monkey costume
back on and added a little bow-tie
so Micah would match his
monkey friend.

Micah the Baby Gap Model

We entered Micah in Baby Gap's 2008 model search. There are literally thousands of entries, so he has some tough competition. Ha!

Delightful Video of Micah

Hola! Here is our most delightful video of Micah so far. This was taken the day after he received his four-month immunizations. He got really sick, but started to feel better when Chad put a cold washcloth on his head. He was feeling so good that he went nuts.

What a delight!

Ginny's Labor and Delivery Story

This blog was taken from Ginny's facebook account. It has her labor and delivery story of Micah for anyone who is interested:

I want to thank everyone for all their congratulations and kind words since Baby Micah was born. I thought I would write a note with all the birth details for anyone who is interested. We went in for my 38 week OB appointment on Thursday, May 29th at 11:00 a.m. I knew that I had already dilated to 3 or 4 centimeters and was 90% effaced. When my doctor checked me on Thursday, I was dilated to almost 5 centimeters and was 95% effaced. My doctor decided that I was in danger of going into labor and not getting to the hospital in time to get an epidural, so she suggested that I allow her to induce my labor that afternoon. She sent Chad and I to the hospital directly from her office, and I was admitted and in my room by 12:15 p.m. The doctor followed me to the hospital and broke my water to induce labor at 1:00 p.m. I ordered the epidural right away, and they decided to wait until I was in active labor to give it to me (which only took a few minutes after they broke my water). I only had one really painful contraction before the anesthesiologist administered the epidural (and, as a side note, the epidural did not really hurt at all -- I was so afraid of it, and it seemed less painful than the IV). I laid in bed, feeling totally fine, and chatted with visitors until about 5:00 p.m., when I was dilated to 10 and ready to push. I pushed for about an hour exactly, and felt almost no pain until the very end. Micah had a very large head and my epidural wore off as he was beginning to crown. There was no time to up the epidural, so the actual delivery of the baby was painful as heck. I had second degree lacerations (very common), and now have a bunch of stitches. Owwww. However, it was over before I knew it, and I had a new baby boy! Micah was born at 6:01 p.m. on May 29th. He weighed 8 pounds, 4.4 ounces and was 20 inches long. He cried like a beast right after he was born, but calmed down as soon as they put him to my chest. He is really delightful, and I don't even mind the sleep deprivation. Chad was wonderful -- he held my hand and cut the cord. He has been changing most of the dirty diapers since I have been doing most of the feedings. We are really happy, and excited to introduce Micah to everyone.

Introducing Micah Allen Pape

This is Micah Allen Pape.

He is a delight. He was born on May 29th, 2008 at 6:01 p.m. at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan, Kansas. His parents are Chad and Ginny Pape, who will be the ones writing this blog. This is because Micah is only four months old and can't type. And he doesn't know English yet, either. So a blog written by Micah would be lame. Here, we'll show you.
Here's what Micah has to say:

nkmbb n nmnm,mnbmnb m x

As you can see, a blog written by Micah would be amusing at first, but would become fairly redundant and boring. We promise to keep you up-to-date with the most interesting things going on with Micah. Stay tuned for fun pictures and videos and stuff.
